If the most recent event is any indication, the Tamale Metropolis is steadily becoming known for attacking journalists and radio hosts.

A radio presenter for Tamale-based Dagbon Fm was attacked by two people less than a month ago. Halik Musah, another presenter for Tamale-based Radio Tamale, was also attacked.

The noisy presenter was attacked from the side and subjected to foul language in a video viewed by MyNewsGh.com as he was being hauled out of his car by his attackers.

Although it is uncertain what the initial reason of the incident, which is said to have occurred at an unidentified place, was, a defenceless Halik Musah is seen making an attempt to defend himself.

He was physically handled by the two attackers, whose faces are not visible in the video, while they called him names and threw insults at him.

It should be noted that three weeks ago, Iddrisu Hardi alias Pagaaza and Mumuni Osman, a former deputy northern regional communications officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was detained in connection with an assault on a radio host stationed in Tamale.

The suspects attacked Abubakari Sadiq, a broadcaster with Dagbon Fm, during a live studio interview.

The two were charged with conspiracy to commit crime, assault, unauthorised access, and death threat when they were brought before the court for arraignment.

Both of them were found guilty on their own admission after entering guilty pleas to all four counts of the accusations.

Following that, they were given the option of paying a fine of GHC 3,600 or serving an 18-month prison term with hard work if they failed to do so, but they were able to pay the fine.
